About

Two people who left what looked right to find what was true.

Jennifer Spencer and Steve Fernandez both walked away from titles that made sense on paper. What they found on the other side became the work they do now, together and separately.

Jennifer Spencer

She spent years answering a question from inside a life that could not answer it.

Jennifer spent years as a VP inside Fortune 500 companies. On the outside, everything made sense. On the inside, something kept asking a question she could not answer from inside that life.

When she left, she discovered what she had been doing her whole career without a name for it. She is a medium. She sees what is underneath, not what you are presenting to the world but what is actually moving beneath the surface. The thing you have not been able to say out loud yet, even to yourself.

She has been studying and practicing sound, meditation, reiki, and mediumship for over ten years, with a sound healing certification through Shanti Sounds Costa Rica and an in-depth channeling accreditation from Delphi University.

Steve Fernandez

His gift is cutting through the noise.

Steve earned a Masters in Psychology and then an MBA before joining Sony Music. Then he left it to become an artist. He has worked with Grammy award winning artists, built businesses, and facilitated sound baths for some of the most accomplished and resistant people in the world.

His gift is cutting through the distraction, the noise, the story you have been telling yourself. He finds the question you actually need to be sitting with and helps you stay with it.

He holds Masters degrees in Psychology and Business from McMaster University and the Schulich School of Business, along with an Adler coaching certification and an in-depth channeling accreditation from Delphi University.

How It Began

Pause+Expand started in March 2020, born out of a question neither of them could answer alone.

Jennifer and Steve set out to find new and better ways to understand themselves, and to support others through the mental health toll of the pandemic. What they found was that there is real power in community, in showing up together to meet each other exactly where we are. That connection is still what carries the work today.
